Leigh Alner began his career making short films, moving on to study at Reading College of Art and Design where he received a first class honours degree in Film Making/Film
Studies. He moved on to teach short courses at Slough Young Peoples Centre in
both camera, lighting and editing. After working as a freelance editor, Leigh moved on
to working on film sets and music promos as a spark whilst still working as a DoP.
Leigh went on to study an MA in Cinematography at the prestigious National Film and Television School under the guidance of Brian Tufano BSC (Trainspotting, Kidulthood, Adulthood) and Stuart Harris (numerous music promos and commercials), where Leigh shot on a diverse range of mediums including S16mm, 35mm, RED, Alexa and numerous other digital platforms, which gave him the ability to light for any platform, and either the digital or film space.
After graduating from the NFTS, Leigh has worked on a variety of feature films, shorts, promos and virals / commercials as a DoP and operator, as well as gaffer and lighting designer on Secret Cinema events and corporate events. He has also lectured in camera and lighting techniques in various universities and institutions.
